L/O - To explore the concept of representations and stereotypes 



What is meant by the term representation?



  • The media offers the audience an interpretation of the world.

  • It is a RE representation of the events people and place.

  • A stereotype is a generalised representation of a person,place or thing. They are limited and often offensive or used for comedy.

Stereotyping:


  • Nanny - Woman, Kind, Gentle 
  • Nurse - Female, 
  • Teenager - Loud, Obnoxious, Annoying
  • Astronaut - Brave, Smart, Adventurous 
  • Football player - Brave, Strong, Male, Sporty
  • Opera Fan - Loud, 
  • Teacher - Smart, Well Dressed, Male 
  • Tattoo Lover - Male, 

How are people represented?


Student - The year 9 girls are being represented as, disruptive, loud, obnoxious.

Teachers - Represented as an entertainer, enthusiastic, energised, stressed


How do people act?

Students - Rude and swearing a lot

Teachers - Kind but also shouty


What do they say?

The students will sometimes swear at each other


What surprises me?

How the students will swear at the teachers!


How are stereotypes reinforced?

The male English teacher stereotypes the girls are loud and rude.

  Wednesday 6th October 2021 LO: To analyse a media text using Media Language Why do you think they chose this shot type? The camera shot type is a medium long shot.  I think they chose this shot because it shows all of the features like the gun and a clear facial expression. If they had chosen a long shot his facial expression would not be clear and if you chose a mid shot the gun would not be visible so a medium long shot is perfect.  Clothing: The clothing looks professional however, its not exactly something James Bond would wear as he  usually wears suits.  He also looks like a cowboy who are usually outlaws so maybe he's an outlaw in this movie? Trailers and Genre:

Wednesday 12th January 2022 LO - To explore the different features of iMovie and experiment with different genre features. I decided to use the Jurassic park trailer which is an adventure movie.
