Theoretical Framework

Learning Objective:  To apply the theoretical framework to media texts.


Media Language:


All the different elements used to construct any media product.


Camerawork:

The camerawork in a film is the way it has been filmed, especially if the style is interesting or unusual in some way. The director employs sensuous, atmospheric camerawork and deft dramatic touches.

Stabling shot- Usually used with a type of location.

Long shot- Where a human is in front of the camera.

Medium long shot- Where there is action going on with the person in front of the camera.

Mid shot- Its where the shot only gets part of the persons body in. (waist up)

Close up shot- Shows the persons face shows how they feel. 

Soundtrack:

Soundtrack includes all of the sound heard in a film/TV show.

  • Music
  • Sound effects 
  • Dialogue 
  • Voiceover

Mise-en-scene:

Includes everything that can be seen in a frame. 

Editing:

Includes all the Post Production work on a moving image.

  • Pace and speed of cuts
  • CGI
  • Green screening
  • Graphics
